Obituary for Kenneth E. Allen

Kenneth E.  Allen
Kenneth Esco Allen, 71, of Cartersville, died on Friday, October 27, 2017 at his residence. Born on December 3, 1945 in Cartersville, Georgia, he was the son of the late Raymond Esco Allen and Fannie Mae Martin Allen.

Mr. Allen was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and was retired from Van Winkle construction as carpenter foremen after 30+ years. He was an outdoors man and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling with his granddaughter Kimberly, who plays travel softball. He also enjoyed spending time fishing with his granddaughter Karly. He was a devoted family man, his son and granddaughters were the love of his life. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Summer and Barbara Black; and his brother, Buford Allen.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret Allen of Cartersville; his son, Kevin Allen (Laurie Kown); his granddaughters, Karly Allen and Kimberly Allen of Cartersville; his sisters, Ruby Shook of Cartersville, Shirley Mayhue of McDonough, Georgia; his brothers, Lesley Allen of Shelby, North Carolina, and Wayne Allen of Cartersville.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 30, 2017 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Jonathan Padget and Reverend Rob Miller officiating. Mr. Allen will lie-in-state from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the Church. Interment will follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 29, 2017, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Southern, Steve Southern, Wayne Allen, Jordan Mayhue, Donald Peace and Adam Hight.
