Obituary for Christine G. Ray

Christine G.  Ray
Christine Gibson Ray, 85, of Cartersville, died on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Redmond Regional Hospital.

She was born in Floyd County on July 5, 1932, the daughter of the late Arthur Arlington Gibson and Eura Bowers Gibson.

Mrs. Ray was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, shopping and working in her flowers. She was a “Snow Bird” with her late husband for 20 years in Winter Haven, Florida. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Charles Edwin Ray and son, Gregory Charles Ray.

Survivors include her children, Lynnda Ray of Cartersville and Cindy Ray Wheeler (Mike) of Five Points, Tennessee; a sister, Shirley and Cam LaViolette of Cartersville; 6 grandchildren, Brandy Tapley, Jennifer Ray ad Shawn Childers all of Cartersville, Torin Mariani of Nashville, Christopher McClure of Cartersville and Timothy Ray of Summerville; 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Pine Grove Baptist Church with The Reverend Clinton Green officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Mrs. Ray will be taken to the church on Monday where she will lie-in-state for one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Wheeler, Tracy Childers, Shaun Childers, Timothy Ray, Christopher McClure and Torin Mariani.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church Building Fund in Christine’s memory.
