Obituary for Howard Scott Getman

Howard Scott  Getman
Mr. Howard Scott Getman, age 95, of Kennesaw, died on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Getman was born in Watertown, New York on October 2, 1922 and was the son of the late Howard Scott Getman and Lenita Alger Getman.

Mr. Getman was a member of The Church of Our Redeemer in Marietta and a man of faith, integrity and was loved and respected by many. He was a dedicated servant of The Church and his service was offered to many. He was a veteran of World War II and traveled all over the world. Mr. Getman was self- employed as a mechanical engineer. He loved outdoors and was an avid fisherman. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty M. Getman.

Survivors include his wife, Emily Butler Getman; his children, Dave Getman and wife, Brenda, Rob Getman and wife, Teresa, Nic Ortiz and wife, Emily, Mitzi Scott and husband, Lt. Colonel Jimmy Scott and Ana Crigler; 12 grandchildren, Billy Getman, Andrew Getman, Myra Savana Scott, Austin Scott, Miana Swiggart, Kielee Van Eys (Dane), Nicolas Ward, Everret Ortiz, Abigail Ortiz, Ian Cash, Ashley Cash and Mia Crigler; and 1 great-grandchild, Kole Swiggart.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Father Beau Davis officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 p.m. prior to the service.

The family will accept flowers, but those who choose, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association –Georgia Chapter, 922 E. Morris Street, Dalton, Ga. 30721.
