Obituary for Anne Jones Pendley

Anne Jones Pendley, 89, of Cartersville, died Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Cartersville Medical Center after a brief illness and a stroke.

Born October 28, 1924 in Cartersville, she was a daughter of the late Thomas F. Jones and the late Pearle Landrum Jones. Anne was a member of the Baptist Faith and a member of Emerson Baptist Church. She was retired from the Georgia Department of Labor after 37 years of service. After retirement Anne worked at the Bartow County Mental Health and the US 3rd Army Recreation Park on Lake Allatoona. She enjoyed her grandchildren, working, sewing, and cooking cakes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Lawrence R. Pendley; three brothers, a sister, and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her daughter, Jane Groce and her husband Trenton of Cartersville; son, Lamar Pendley and his wife Melody, also of Cartersville; grandchildren, Kevin Groce of Cartersville, Chad Groce of Cartersville, Candace Groce of New Orleans, LA, Callie Palmer and her husband Andrew of Cartersville, and Carreth Jarrett and her husband Kenneth of Canton; great-grandchildren, Blake Groce and his wife Crystal of Bristol, VA, Jesslin Groce of Cartersville, Morgan Groce of Cartersville, Halen Groce of Cartersville, George Palmer of Cartersville, and Pendley Jarrett of Canton; great-great-grandchildren, Kyndall and Karrah Groce of Bristol, VA, and Kasan Knox of Cartersville.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with The Reverend Dr. Don Hattaway officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 15, 2014 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Tim Wilson, BR Roberts, Jim Bence, Roger Pendley, Gene Pendley, and Mike Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ernest Collins, Frankie Duren, and Ralph Hamilton.

Flowers will be accepted, but the family suggests, that those who wish may make donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at www.michaeljfox.org or Grand Central Station, Post Office Box 4777, New York, NY 10163-4777 in memory of Anne.
