Obituary for Betty Louise Rampley

Our sweet Momma, Betty “Louise” Jenkins Rampley, took her Heavenly flight Friday evening, January 8, 2021. She was born May 9, 1930 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Della Hart Jenkins and James Henry Jenkins. They moved to Emerson, Georgia when she was in third grade where she met the love of her life, John Rampley, at Emerson Elementary School. They were married when she was 18 and were together until he died December 7, 2016. A joyous reunion took place as she entered Heaven’s gates. They raised two sons and two daughters whom they taught to love God, love each other and to do the right thing.

Although she worked a full-time job, her greatest commitment was to God and her family. She taught by example in her faithful service at Emerson Baptist Church and Bethany Baptist Church. Her commitment to God was unwavering. She loved our Daddy and supported him as he worked for God and his family. She led by example and encouraged all of us to do our best and to work for our dreams. She believed in each of us and wanted the best for all of her children. She was a miracle in so many ways and had a fighting spirit that is a testimony to us all. She was a 30-year survivor of pancreatic cancer and often encouraged others who were facing their own battle with cancer. She knew that, as her oncologist said, “prayer changes things”.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Rampley, an infant daughter, Glenda Carol Rampley, her parents, and a brother, Billy Jo Jenkins. She is survived by a son, John Randall Rampley (Joan), a daughter, Cathy Green (Byron), a daughter, Karen Clark (Mike), and a son, Danny Rampley. She loved her grandchildren dearly. As one of them said about his grandparents, you never left their home hungry or feeling sad. The grandchildren are William Rampley (Madeline), Matt Rampley, John Pope (Ginny), Ben Pope (Raven), Shelley Eriksen (Ron), and Adam Clark (Ashley). Great-grandchildren were a true blessing to her. They are, Christa Rampley, Noah Rampley, Sarah Rampley, Jeremiah Rampley, Riley Pope, Jordyn Pope, Carter Pope, Isabella Dalrymple, Wyatt Dalrymple and Anabella Eriksen. Survivors also include a number of nieces and nephews and a brother-in-law, Ronald Smith (Sharon) of Oregon all of whom were loved by this amazing lady.

Words cannot express how much our hearts are breaking, but we also rejoice knowing we will see her again someday. We know that many of you want to express your sympathy and to comfort our family, but the current medical crisis makes face-to-face expression difficult.

A small family service will be held in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Donnie Summey officiating. Interment will follow at Emerson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Social distancing will be required and masks are required for all who attend the services. Serving as pallbearers will be William Rampley, Matt Rampley, John Pope, Ben Pope, Adam Clark and Ron Eriksen.

Please honor her memory by doing something special for your family or someone you love. If she touched your life or you have a special memory of her, please share those with us on the Parnick Jennings Memory Wall.
