Obituary for Beulah Mae Brown (Cochran)

Beulah Mae Cochran Brown, 90 of Cartersville passed away peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2021 with her family by her side.

Born in Adairsville on February 18, 1931 to the late Alfred “Bud” Cochran and the late Roxie Brady Cochran. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Junk Cochran, Jake Cochran, Sr.
Bessie Parker, Ruby, Rosy, Lois Gossett, Dixie Coker, Vera Reed, Buddy Cochran, Tab Cochran, Lucille, Helen Lanham; her son, Eugene Brown; and her great-grandson, Joshua Murphy.

Beulah was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where she was mostly fitted at the piano bench; although she was not able to read sheet music you would never know because she played for the church choir, was an active member of the Mt. Pisgah Trio and later they grew in numbers and became the Mt. Pisgah Quartet. The group would travel around for bookings at other churches, homecomings, revivals, and all-night singings. Beulah did all this as well as work a full-time job, on third shift at Shaw Industries until her retirement. It was important to her to sing, play the piano and spread the Joy of the Lord with song. During their years together the Mt. Pisgah Trio and the Mt. Pisgah Quartet recorded albums at WBHF radio in Cartersville.

Survivors include her three grandchildren, Cindy Brown, Timika Murphy, and Roxie Sweeney; her great- grandchildren, Cole Brown, Austin Murphy, Tommy Silvers, Rhiannon Silvers, and Dakota; seven great-greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be celebrating and remembering Beulah’s life at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
