Obituary for Billy Van Ballard
Billy Van Ballard, age 79, of Rockmart, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Billy was born in Taylorsville, Georgia, on November 28, 1942.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Freeman Kelly (Bill) Ballard and Martha Dover Ballard; and a son-in-law, Ronny Summerville of Rockmart, Georgia.
Survivors include Billy’s three daughters, Peggy Lee Stephenson (Buddy), Miranda Kelly Atkins (Ricky), and Lisa Michelle Summerville; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Billy lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart, Georgia. He attended Rockmart High School and earned his diploma while serving in the United States Army. He was also in the National Guard for several years afterwards. Billy continued his education throughout his prestigious career. He retired from Penske Truck Leasing, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Rockmart, Georgia. Billy enjoyed hunting, fishing, Nascar, boxing, horses, and fine dining.
Funeral services for Billy Van Ballard will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home in Cartersville, with Brother Steve Dutton officiating. Interment will follow at Taylorsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service for visitation.
