Mr. Billy “Bop” Satterfield, 87, of Cartersville passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at his residence.
Born on January 5, 1934 in Cartersville, he was the son of the late Orbin Satterfield and the late Elma Martin Satterfield. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Faye Gentry; and his special friend, Doyle James, Jr.
Billy served his country in the United States Army in the 82nd Airbourne Division and later was the owner of the 411 Gulf Station and he was a retiree of Southern States. He also worked on his farm and loved everything about it. In his free time his favorite past time was to go eat at Doug’s and flirt with all the waitresses. Billy had a generous heart and would do anything for anybody. He fought a hard and short battle with Cancer and will be forever missed.
Survivors include his daughters, Wanda Carr and Rhonda Gilliam; his grandchildren, Tasha “Sally” Smith (Drew), Taylor “Cooter” Gilliam, and “his favorite”, Kolie Gilliam; his great-grandchildren, Chase “Buckshot” Ashworth (Lillie), and Sam “Lil Sam” Smith; his sisters, Betty Milam, Dot Black, and Ann Cochran; his brothers, Buddy Satterfield, and Larry Satterfield; and a special member of the family, Derraugh Ewchuk.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Mr. Charlie Long, Mr.CL Tidwell, and Mr. Jim McConkey officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the funeral. Interment will be private.
