Obituary for Billy Wayne Mathison
Billy Wayne Mathison, 77, of Cartersville passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 due to an extended illness.
Born on February 2, 1942 in Cartersville, Billy was the retired owner and operator of Shop Wise Grocery and Shopwise Hardware on Grassdale Road. He was the son of the late Charles W. Mathison and the late Mamie Lou Lewis Mathison. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean Huckaby Mathison; and his son Randy Mathison.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Pam Mathison; his daughter, Mandy Akers; his stepdaughter, Teresa Myers; his grandchildren, Josh Mathison, Chelsea Mathison, and Nikki Duncan, Amber Akers, and Ashley Akers; many great-grandchildren; and his brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Marcy Mathison.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2019 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Drew Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2019 at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Mathison, Hayden Amos, Scott Lasky, and Ronnie Hightower.
