Obituary for Bradley Lee Ward

Dr. Bradley Lee Ward, 64, of Taylorsville, Georgia passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019. Dr. Ward was born August 30, 1954 to Wade Leverett and Menta Harris (Jolley) Ward.

Dr. Ward was born and raised in Taylorsville. He had a love of learning from an early age. The family lore is that he read the entire set of encyclopedias by the age of eight. From working on the family farm and birthing calves, he developed a passion for medicine. He dreamed of becoming a physician and returning home to serve his hometown. He graduated from Cartersville High School as the valedictorian in 1972 and from the University of Georgia with a degree in chemistry in 1975. He went on to medical school at Duke University and graduated in 1979. It was there that he met the love of his life, Dr. Ann Lee (Peterson) Ward. They moved to Anniston, Alabama for Brad to complete his residency in family medicine and then on to St. Louis for Ann to complete her fellowship in endocrinology. In 1983, Brad and Ann returned home to Taylorsville to open their joint medical practice. He will be remembered for his love for his family, his dedication to his patients, his passion for travel and photography, and his love of Christ and sincere belief in the Holy Spirit.

Dr. Brad was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dr. Ann Ward, his three children, Joseph (Jesse) Ward, Eric Ward, and Casey (Andrew) Stulce, his brother Wade (Linda) Ward and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 21 at 11 a.m. at Trinity at the Well in Cartersville, GA. Reverend Steve Lyle and Dr. Bill Britt will officiate. The family will receive friends at Trinity at the Well on Tuesday, August 20 from 5—8 p.m.
