Cassandra was one of the first friends I made when I joined the Navy. We met in bootcamp and instantly clicked. We went on to Pensacola together, and then both ended up in Norfolk. Over the years, we got pretty close, and obviously over time, with the distance, we stopped talking as often. But we still always kept in touch. She was there when I built my first snowman, she was the first person to buy a gift for my son when I was pregnant, she was the first person to show me around an aircraft carrier. I still have a drawing in my room that she made of my in 2013. I love her, I wish we all had more time with her. She will be missed dearly. She was funny, she was caring, she was a joy to be around and her laugh was contagious. I’m still in disbelief, I wish I was able to make it to say goodbye. I pray her family finds peace during this impossibly hard time.
