Obituary for Catheryn T. Martin

Catheryn “Cat” Martin, 71, of Cartersville passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022, in Marietta, Georgia.

Born on May 15, 1951, in Cartersville she was the daughter of the late Clarence Bennett and Lula Bell Bennett. She was also preceded in death by her brother Joe Bennett, and her sisters Carolyn Goss, Shirley James, and Jody Hensley.

Cat is survived by her daughter Tammy Gravley (Jason); sons Randy Martin (Denise) and Rusty Martin (Carol); grandchildren Tori Hale, Jerry Gravley (Christy), Brittany Martin, Ashley Thomason (Justin), Jordan Runion (Ashley), and Seth Martin; great Grandchildren Damian Hale, Talan Hale, Harlee Thomason, Jacie Thomason, Makinleigh Runion, William Tate Runion, and Henry Cooper Runion; sisters Sue Bell and Joyce Dunagan (Mike); brother Michael Bennett; lifelong friend Dan Hanlon; and many nieces and nephews.

Cat was a simple lady who loved her family and friends more than herself. She loved spending time with her family. Cat was a very hard worker, and no woman could do laundry like she did. She would stand at the kitchen sink scrubbing stains out of clothing, and you would never see her with a wrinkle in her clothes. She always made you feel welcome and loved. You couldn’t go to her house without being fed and you couldn’t leave without her making you take food home with you.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Zion Hill Baptist Church, with Pastor Jordan Runion officiating, her burial will follow at Zion Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022, and Friday, June 3, 2022, at Zion Hill Baptist Church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Hanlon, Mike Dunagan, Brittany Martin, Olin Lowe, Ian Lowe and Jerry Gravley.
