Obituary for Charlotte Lucille Priest (Griffith)

Mrs. Charlotte Lucille Griffith Priest, 66 of Cartersville passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at her residence.

Born in Dallas, Georgia on March 2, 1953 she was the daughter of Clayton John Griffith and the late Mary Helen Hurley Denson. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Elsberry.

Charlotte was employed as a cosmetologist until her retirement. She had an outgoing personality, a great sense of humor, and a contagious smile that would light up a room. In her spare time Charlotte loved to shop and travel. She enjoyed going on cruises with her cruise group and traveling to the beach with her nieces and nephews. She considered her two small dogs and her nieces and nephews her children. Charlotte was a member of Gracewalk Church, formerly Canton Road Church of God, where she spent time working with Meals on Wheels and Vacation Bible School.

Survivors include the love of her life, Dennis Priest, whom she married on December, 20, 1975; her father, Clayton Griffith; her sisters and brother-in-law, Patricia and Woody Mancil, and Darlene Adair; her brother, Michael Griffith; special niece, Ashton Griffith who lives with them; and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Gracewalk Church, 14 Simpson Circle, Cartersville, GA 30121 with Reverend Dwayne McCreary and Mr. Jon Mancil officiating. Burial will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2019. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ivan Black, Alan Renner, Ronnie Elsberry, Conway Clements, Lane Hall, and Darrian Kent. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Chance and Frank Sosebee.
