Obituary for Jack Whitener

Dallas “Jack” Whitener, of Cartersville passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at his residence.

Born on March 10, 1926 he was the son of the late Wiley Whitener and the late Mary Ray Whitener. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Annie; his brother, Hubert; his daughter, Martha Orton; and his son-in-law, Floyd Ponder.

Survivors include his loving wife of 75 years, Omie Whitener; his daughters, Elizabeth Ponder, and Nancy Young (Jimmy); his son, Jackie Whitener; his son-in-law, James Orton; his sister, Mattie Lou; and several grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Mr. Parnick Jennings officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, observing social distancing with no more than 25 people in the building at a time.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Byron Young, Gunner Kreczmer, Shane Copeland, Nathan Linley, Zachary Whitener, Shannon Copeland, Cody Copeland, Corey Copeland, and BJ Raines.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Heartland Hospice for the care that Jack received while he was ill.
