Obituary for Doug Collum
Doug Collum, 77, of White passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Townsend Park Health and Rehabilitation.
Born in Calhoun on March 6, 1942 he was the son of the late Solomon Collum and the late Aileen Romine Collum. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Lester Collum and Donald Collum.
Doug was employed by Mohawk Carpets as a supervisor until his retirement; he was a hard worker and well respected. He was a man of few words but when he spoke his words were worth something. Everyone that knew Doug considered him a close friend.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Fuqua Collum; his daughter, Ramona Collum; his sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth & Angela Collum and Jimmy & Stephanie Collum; his grandchildren, Kiefer Collum, Elijah Blue Cagle, Trevor Collum, Neely Collum, Brennah Collum; his sister, Mamie Jo Thornton; his brother, William Collum; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2020 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Keith Willard officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2020 at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kiefer Collum, Trevor Collum, Nick Martin, Teddy Martin, Greg Hardin, and Joe Newberry. Honorary pallbearers will be Elijah Blue Cagle and Daniel Fuqua.
