Ernest “Eugene” Brown, 72, of Cartersville passed away at home, peacefully with his family by his side, on Thursday, February 11, 2021.
Born on July 10, 1948 in Cartersville, he is the son of Beulah Cochran Brown, who survives, and the late Hubert Brown.
Eugene cherished and adored his family and friends. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord. He was not fearful of passing, instead he looked forward to going home and being with Jesus. He loved life and lived it to the fullest, having many varied interests.
Eugene was a talented musician, singer, and songwriter. He played the keyboard and guitar and was a member of several bands from the time he was a teenager, even appearing with band mates in a 1967 issue of Teen’s Top Ten.
Eugene had an engineer’s mind and was very tech savvy. He worked at Lockheed Martin as a computer technician and used his engineering and technical skills even into his retirement. He was skilled at construction and home repair and also built and repaired computers for family and friends. He loved smart technology and always had new apps on his phone that controlled his “smart house.” He was an amateur videographer and loved making comedic videos of himself. He was a very funny man and made everyone laugh.
Eugene also loved gardening, fishing, boating, water skiing and being at the beach. He was such a diverse man and will be missed by all that knew him.
Eugene is survived by his wife Janice Ray Brown; daughters Cynthia Brown, Timika Murphy and Roxie (Sheldon) Sweeney; stepchildren Stephanie (James) Searfoss and Miles (Charlotte) Chapman; grandchildren Cole Brown, Austin Murphy, Tommy Silvers and Rhiannon Silvers; step grandchildren Rio Searfoss, Ethan Searfoss, Lillian Chapman and Zeke Chapman; several great grandchildren; and special friend and neighbor Tom Akin. He is preceded in death by his grandson Josh Murphy.
