Obituary for Florence "Ted" Tidwell
Florence Jean “Ted” Cothran Tidwell, age 98 of Cartersville, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2023.
Florence was born in Cartersville, Georgia on September 13, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Reverend R.D. Cothran and Hannah Latham Lewis Cothran. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband John D. Tidwell Jr.; her son Harbin Herman Tidwell; her sisters Leola Donofrio, Gertrude Gatlin, and Mzillie Lee; and her brothers Charles Cothran, Homer Cothran, Carl Cothran, Harvey Lewis, and Herby Lewis.
Florence was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church since 1944. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her two sons Weldon Tidwell (Margaret) and Don Tidwell (Patricia), all of Cartersville, Georgia; her daughter-in-law Lynn Tidwell; her six granddaughters Lorie Goss (Ron), Rebecca Henson (DaRon), Sandy Cowart (Brian), Donna Marsingale (Dennis), and Hannah Tidwell, all of Cartersville, Georgia, and Stacy Elmer (Dave), of Chula Vista, California; her 11 great-grandchildren Michael Goss, Cal Goss, Joshua Marsingale, Nathanael Marsingale, Tara Carter (Joseph), Kayla Hutchings (Joe), Alycia Johnson (Nik), all of Cartersville, Georgia; Lauren Utt (Samuel), of Cleveland, Tennessee; Carson Elmer, Caleb Elmer, and Caylee Elmer, all of Chula Vista, California; her six great-great-grandchildren Cayden & Jaxon Carter, Emberly & Ryker Hutchings, Easton & Colton Johnson, all of Cartersville, Georgia, as well as several loving nieces and nephews that visited her frequently.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Oak Grove Baptist Church located at 312 Burnt Hickory Rd. Cartersville, GA with Reverend David Baker & Reverend DaRon Henson officiating. Interment will follow at Cassville Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ron Goss, Michael Goss, Cal Goss, DaRon Henson, Jake Sullins, and Joshua Marsingale. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Doug Cornwell, Terry Tidwell, Brian Cowart, Dennis Marsingale, Joseph Carter, Joe Hutchings, Nik Johnson, Jimmy Cothran, Samuel Utt, Winfred Popham, and Randy Tidwell.
