Obituary for Frances Olivia Smith

Frances Olivia Smith, 85, of Cartersville, died Sunday, November 29, 2015 at her residence.
A native of Bartow County, born January 3, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Hoyt Tatum and Lillian Tumlin Tatum. Mrs. Smith was a member of Douglas Street UMC where she volunteered with the after school program for the Hands of Christ. She retired from Lockheed-Martin with 35 plus years of service serving as a liaison for the US Air Force C-130 Program. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Ray Smith; and a brother, Slick Tatum.

She is survived by her daughter, Manesa Smith Short of Cartersville; her son, Bill Smith and wife, Cindy of Cartersville; her grandchildren, Macra Adair, Lindsey Montgomery and Jason Smith all of Cartersville; her great-grandchildren, Jackson and Olivia Montgomery; her sister, Dot Oscher of Cartersville; her brothers, Carter and Joe Tatum both of Cartersville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Douglas Street UMC with The Reverend Curtis Rivers officiating. Interment will be private. Mrs. Smith will lie-in-state from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church prior to the service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Douglas St. United Methodist Church, 219 Douglas St. Cartersville, Ga. 30120 in memory of Frances.
