Obituary for Franklin "Gene" Raye
Franklin “Gene” Raye, 87, of Cartersville passed away on Monday, July 6, 2020 at Floyd Medical Center.
Born on September 11, 1932 in Waleska, he was the son of the late Julius Raye and the late Tessie Mae Hulsey Raye. He was also preceded in death by his twenty-one brothers and sisters; and his grandson, Matthew Thomson.
Gene was a mechanic for Vulcan Materials until his retirement. He enjoyed music and was a very talented musician. Gene was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. He was a good Christian man and a very loyal person.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-eight years, Louise Sumner Raye; his daughters, Lillian Thomson (Terry), and Darlene Wheeler (Terry); his grandchildren, Michael Thomson, Mark Thomson, and Terri Jean Thomson; his brother, Jerry Ray; and his great-grandchildren, Destiny Thomson, Hannah Thomson, and Haylee Thomson.
