Obituary for Herman Charles Prather
Mr. Herman Charles Prather, 66, of Cartersville passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at his residence.
Born on December 27, 1954 he was the son of the late Herman Lee Prather and the late Sara Jo Prather. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Andrea Leigh Prather; his son, Matthew Wayne Prather; his sister, Beth Jenkins; and his brother, Bruce Edward Prather.
Charles served his country in the United States Army and later went on to work at Franklin Tractor as a Mechanic. He loved to travel and had been to Greece, Germany and Paris. He also enjoyed working in his flower beds, tinkering with old cars, history, camping, fishing, and listening to music.
Survivors include his sisters, Cathy Prather of Acworth, Patsy Haney of Cartersville, Lynn Strickland of Hiram, and Virginia Reaid of Centre, Alabama; his brothers, Terry Jenkins of Dallas, and David Jenkins of Cartersville; his girlfriend, Corene Ray of Cartersville; and her granddaughter, Macenzie Lewis of Cartersville.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Michael Abernathy officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Hyde, Daniel Teal, Jason Hartley, Ashley Haney, Shane Ingram, and John Hazel.
