Obituary for Herman Thurman

Mr. Herman Thurman, 90, of Fairmount passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Townsend Park Health and Rehabilitation.

Born on September 11, 1930 in Pine Log, he was the son of the late Elbert Thurman and the late Millie Tanner Thurman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Louise Barton Thurman; and his brothers, John Thurman, and Everette Thurman.

Herman was employed with the Bartow County Recreation Department until his retirement. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and served as a Mason for over fifty years. Herman loved his 57 Chevy and his animals. He also enjoyed fishing and camping.

Survivors include his daughter, Mary McDaniel (Edward); his grandchildren, Jonathan McDaniel (Tori); his great-grandchildren, Jasper McDaniel, and Emmet McDaniel; his sister, Pollie Neal; his brother-in-law, Charles Barton (Ione); and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2021 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Keith Willard officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ed McDaniel, Jonathan McDaniel, Eddie Hunkin, Kevin Logan, Paul Reeves and Jackie Thurman.
