Obituary for Howard E. Bowman

Howard Eschol Bowman went to be with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 after spending 87 years on this earth.

Howard was born June 13, 1934, son of William Lawrence Bowman and Ethel Pyle Bowman. He was one of 11 children, having 8 sisters and 2 brothers.

Howard graduated Oxford High School, located in Oxford, Alabama in 1952. While working on his degree in Education, he attended multiple colleges. He started at Tennessee Temple College for 3 years, Howard College in Birmingham for 2 years, Jackson State College for 1 year, and Auburn University for 1 year. He ended his studies after spending time at West Georgia College.

Howard also served his country for 3 years. This included spending 17 months in South Korea during the Korean war.
Howard began his career as an educator in Calhoun County, Alabama in 1959 where he was a classroom teacher and principal. He came to Bartow County, Georgia in 1963 as principal at Cloverleaf Elementary School. From there, he went on to be a principal at Cartersville Elementary School, was an Associate Superintendent for the Bartow County School Board, and principal of Cass Middle School. He ended his career as an educator in 1994.

Howard was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville, Georgia, serving his Lord and Savior in capacities such as Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, and Usher.

He is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence & Ethel Bowman, sisters; Mitylene Brickhouse, Maragrite Nixon, Norvell Nester, Doris Maddox, Nelda Snider, Wanda Brice, and brothers Milfred Bowman and Alton Bowman.

Howard is survived by his wife, Helen Faye Bowman, his daughter Pamela Faye Bell and her two children, Jacob Bell & Leslie Bell. His son, William Howard (Billy) Bowman, his wife Becca, and their children & grandchildren; Ashley Beaty, husband Randy, and their children Camden Beaty, Addyson Beaty, and Cayson Beatty. Kelsie Arrington, husband Terry, and their children; Dillon Arrington, Riley Estopare, Brooke Estopare, and Cameron Arrington. Deanna woodruff and her children; Caden Woodruff, Mason Woodruff, and Jackson Woodruff. Chloe Bowman and Gretchen Bowman. He is also survived by his two sisters, Laura Beasley and Gail Duke.

His memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. Speakers during the service will be Elata Dowdy and Billy Bowman.
