Obituary for Ingrid Christa Kown

Ingrid Christa Rütze Kown, age 92, sadly passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022.

Ingrid was born on December 25, 1929 in Hamburg, Germany. She was the daughter of the late Ernst Rütze and the late Erna Saubert. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Captain Robert W. McMullen; husband, Wilson Jerry Kown; daughter, Kelly S. Kown; granddaughter, Kimberly Sanders; great-granddaughter, Christa N. Williams; sisters, LieseLotte Warncke and Rose Marie Rütze; and brother, Gerd Rütze.

Ingrid is survived by daughter, Christa (James) Evans; son, Steven D. Kown; daughter, Dagmar (Reiner) Spinner; granddaughter, Tamara Heath; granddaughter, Martina (Joseph) Schleicher; nephew, Jurgen (Brunhild) Warncke; seven great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Ingrid lived in Germany during World War II where she married Captain Robert W. McMullen. She moved to the United States and they lived in California, Louisiana, and New Mexico. Captain McMullen unfortunately passed away while residing in New Mexico. Ingrid was widowed at the age of 26. She later met and married Wilson Jerry Kown from Cartersville and they were happily married for fifty years and lived in Nevada, California and then moved to Georgia.

Ingrid was an avid reader, a GREAT cook, and was a fan of all types of movies and Broadway shows. She loved to listen to music, and her favorite was the Sound of Music. She was a kind person that loved her family and loved everyone. Ingrid enjoyed entertaining and really knew how to put on a great party.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Ingrid’s life on Sunday May 1, 2022 at 3:00 p.m at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. The family will have a time of visitation from 2:00 – 3:00 pm prior to the service. Ingrid will be inurned at Georgia National Cemetery at a later date.
