Obituary for James Ronald Anderson

James R. Anderson was born in Griffin, Spalding County Georgia on June 9, 1942. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James J. Anderson. He received his elementary education in Spalding County.

His parents moved to Dekalb County in 1950, where he attended Avondale High School and graduated in 1960. He then went to Young Harris Jr. College and graduated in 1962 with an Associates of Arts Degree. After Young Harris, he attended Lagrange College, graduating in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

He attended Candler School of Theology at Emory University from 1967-1969 and received his Master of Divinity. In 1968 he was ordained as an elder in the United Methodist Church.

During his ministry he served at Shiloh UMC 1969-1974 in Carrollton, GA; Cokesbury UMC 1974-1976 in Augusta, GA; Union Point UMC 1974-1976 in Union Point, GA; Faith UMC 1980-1982 in Cartersville, GA. In 1982 he had to retire because of health problems. After his retirement he continued to make his home in Cartersville, GA.

Rev. Anderson has a daughter Tracy Lynn Anderson of Cartersville, GA; a son Jason Ross, of Cartersville, GA, who served faithfully as Rev. Anderson’s caregiver during the years of his sickness; granddaughters Haydn Ward and Briana Ward both of Reno, NV.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, in the mausoleum of Sunset Memory Gardens.
