Obituary for Janet Helen Hogg (Kerkman)

Janet Helen Hogg (née Kerkman), Age 63, of Cartersville, GA passed away on August 29th, 2021 surrounded by her family at her home in Cassville, GA after battling with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

She is survived by her husband Alistair Alexander Hogg, her mother Sue Ann Kerkman; her children, Elish (Ryan) Curcuru and Ian (Sarah) Hogg; and her siblings, Mary (Steve) Bernstein, Martin (Terry) Kerkman, Charles (Sue) Kerkman, Paul (Dodie) Kerkman, Ann (Tony Varney) Kerkman and a very large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Henry Kerkman; her brothers, William Kerkman and Neal Kerkman, father in law, Robert Hogg; and mother in law Jeanie Hogg.

Janet was born on November 15th, 1957 in Racine, WI and she grew up in Union Grove, WI. She graduated from Union Grove High School in 1975. She married her husband Al on December 6th, 1980 in Franksville, Wisconsin. They moved to Texas and then to Georgia where they lived for 40 years and raised a family.

Janet worked at Anheuser-Busch in Cartersville for 31 years and was the first employee hired at the Cartersville Brewery. Janet was very involved with many different charitable organizations in the community. She served on the Board of Directors for the Bartow County United Way and was also involved in charitable work for the Hickory Log Home, amongst many other organizations.

Her hobbies and interests included quilting, sewing, needlework, cooking, baking, crafts, yoga, traveling, walking, hiking and spending time with family. Janet was a loving and caring person, had many friends, and was loved by many. She was beautiful both inside and out. Her kindness had a lasting impact on everyone that she encountered.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Pine Log United Methodist Church located at 3497 Pine Log Road, Rydal Georgia 30171.
