Christopher “John” Morris was born on August 6, 1980 in Rome, Georgia at Floyd Medical Center. He was 40 years old on September 30, 2020 when his body could not fight the cancer anymore, while at Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. He was the strongest willed man anyone had ever met, all the way up until his final days he was insisting that he was going back to work at The Glass Man and would be installing windshields again soon, if it were up to his mind, he would have been.
First and foremost, John was a dad, an amazing dad, the one everyone wants, Alyssa, his only child, knew she was his everything, his world, no one was more important, it was always just her. She was and always will be the love of his life and his greatest accomplishment. The day she was born she became his protector here on Earth and now he is her protector from above.
John would do anything for anyone. There was not a single soul that he wouldn’t give the shirt off his back. Friends, family, strangers – he was the one you wanted on your side. He was that man, the one you always knew you could depend on. He was always right there, always when someone, anyone needed him the most.
When his suffering was coming to an end and he was able to be at peace; he was not alone. Alyssa and Tonia were by his side. He never gave up, he fought that cancer, he made it through things the doctors said he wouldn’t. That man beat all odds every day!
John is preceded in death by his mother, Gwendolyn Dyer, we all know that reunion was beautiful. Survivors include his daughter, Alyssa Morris; his daughter’s mother, Tonia Morris; his father, Johnny Morris who resides in Euharlee; his brother, Lee Morris; his niece, Elvadine Inez; his nanny, Sybil Croy; his second family, Rick and Lore Caya, his in-laws; and friend who was like a sister, Jennifer Ingram.
So many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that we can’t even begin to mention. Just know that every single one of you had a place in his heart and will forever be a part of him as he will always be a part of you.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2020 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Mark Harris officiating.
