Obituary for Laura Jo Burgess (Hartness)
Laura Jo Hartness Burgess, 69, of Cartersville, passed away peacefully Saturday November 2, 2019. Born May 15, 1950 in Ringgold Georgia she was the daughter of the late Charles Hartness and Virginia Ray Hartness.
Jo loved to sew and crochet and was known to feed and care for anyone who came to her house. Her little dog, Rusty, was the light of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Burgess and her siblings; Dennis and Audrey Hartness, and Rissa Ray.
Survivors include her daughter, Kim Lanham (Earl); her sons, Brian Guffey (Ashley), Charlie Guffey (Tanya); seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; her siblings, Jimmy, Ronnie, and Richard Hartness, Angie McKinnon and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 8, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with the Reverend Michael Abernathy officiating. Burial will follow the service at Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home on Thursday, November 7, 2019 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Guffey, Charlie Guffey, Earl Lanham, Larry, Bobby, and Mark Hartness.
