Obituary for Lewis Junior Craig

Rev. Lewis J. Craig of Cartersville, GA, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. He is the son of the late Virgil Craig and Mary Lou Craig. He is also preceded in death by his wife Agnes Craig and his sister Shirley Ann Hall.

Survivors include his brother Lawrence Craig and his wife Cat; sister Margaret Tidwell; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Lewis was a devout Christian, an ordained minister, and was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church. He loved the Lord, his church, and his family. He was a character and made people laugh. He enjoyed “piddling” as he called it, working on cars and whittling. He made functioning knives, pliers, and doll house furniture. Lewis was a security guard for over 20 years and when he retired, he opened a garage that he had for years. He taught his nieces and nephews how to take out engines and repair vehicles. He also, loved camping with his wife Agnes.

A funeral service is scheduled on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 3:00 pm at New Canaan Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Towe and Pastor Ronnie Cowart officiating the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Tidwell, Michael Tidwell Jr., Jason Arp, Joe Carroll, Brian Blankenship, and Trey Burton, Honorary Pallbearers are Butch Cole and Buck White. The burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held prior to the service at New Canaan Baptist Church from 12:00 pm – 2:30 pm Saturday, April 10, 2021.
