Obituary for Lewis Freeman

Lewis Freeman, 71, of Taylorsville passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Cartersville Medical Center.

Born on August 4, 1949 in Gordon County he was the son of the late William B. Freeman and the late Nora Elizabeth Floyd. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Freeman; and several brothers and sisters.

Lewis loved farming and did it most of his life. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, rabbit hunting, making Brunswick stew and working as a mechanic. More than anything Lewis was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Karen Bowen Freeman; his children, Elton Freeman, Carol Dover (Wayne), Joey Windiate (Crissy), Robby Windiate, and Brandy Ghorley (Kirk); his 7 grandchildren, Jonathan Dover, Whitney Dover, Charissa Windiate, Dusty Windiate, Ty Windiate, Ally Manning, Cheyenne Ghorley; 1 great-grandchild, Hunter Manning; his sister and brother, Alpha Lowrey and Tommy Freeman; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October, 12, 2020 with Reverend Don Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Canaan Land Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Monday prior to the service. Due to Covid-19 social distancing guidelines will be practiced.

Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Manning, Joseph Paynter, Dusty Windiate, Ty Windiate, Michael Freeman, and Joe Deams.
