Obituary for Lois Elaine Strand

Lois Strand December 7, 1935 – March 17, 2021

Lois Elaine (Jaster) Strand, 85, Cartersville, Georgia, passed away gently surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.

Beloved mother, and cherished wife of nearly 67 years, Lois was born December 7, 1935 in Garber, Iowa to Emil and Dorothy (Wistrick) Jaster. After Dorothy’s death (1943) Emil married Marie (DeSotel) Jaster, and together they raised Lois and her younger brother Ed Jaster (Margaret).

Lois married her high school sweetheart Conley Strand on November 27, 1954. From the valleys of Tickletown, Iowa to the top of Cadillac Mountain, Maine, to Chicago and Cartersville, what an amazing life they shared. Life’s journey is all about valleys and mountain tops and they have seen and lived them both. Their devotion to each other exemplified love in action and Lois’ presence will be sorrowfully missed.

Lois and Conley were blessed to have three children and one grandson: Michael Allen (1956-1980), Dawn Elaine (Mike Buettner), and Tammy Marie (Brian Paugh) and Cooper Paugh.

Words cannot contain nor fully express the grief felt with Lois’ passing. Small in stature yet big in heart, kindness, and resilience, Lois always put others needs before hers and strove to do her best in all things. She worked hard, enjoyed gardening, being outside, camping, painting, and needlework. Her embroidery was beautiful on both sides just as she was inside and out. Among Lois’ accomplishments, Lois and her family were especially proud that as an adult she studied and earned her LPN Nurse degree.

With respect to Lois’ wishes, no visitation or service is planned at this time, however a private graveside service will be held in Elkader, Iowa at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in celebration of Lois may be sent to Savior of All Lutheran Church, 35 Indian Trail SE, Cartersville, GA 30120.
