Obituary for Marlene Parry (Sirmons)

Rachel Marlene Sirmons Parry, 82 years old, passed away on April 16, 2020. She was a long-time resident (42 years) of Cartersville, Georgia and a short-term resident at Canton Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Parry was born on July 9, 1937 in Nashville, Georgia, to Mallie Lee Sirmons and J. Mitchell Sirmons, and was preceded in death by her husband Frank James Parry in 1992. She met Frank “Mike” while he was stationed at Moody AFB, Georgia. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and the Army Corps of Engineers. Mrs. Parry was a devoted mother and dedicated military spouse and accompanied him on all assignments – Moody AFB, GA, Travis AFB, CA, Myrtle Beach AFB, SC, Offutt AFB, NE, Taiwan, Andrews AFB, MD, Elmendorf AFB, AK and McCoy AFB, FL.

The Mother of three daughters, Jennifer Gaultney (Michael) from Rest Haven, Georgia, Sandra French (Graham) from Scottsboro, Alabama and Micki Parry Favero from Cartersville, Georgia. In addition, she has six grandchildren, Rachel Cowden (Eric) of Pensacola, Florida, Jason Connell (Alex Matlock) from Issaquah, Washington, Joshua Ciardelli from Huntsville, AL, Audrey Gaultney from Rest Haven, Georgia, Parry Gaultney (Rae) from Sugar Hill, Georgia and Mason Gaultney from Rest Haven, Georgia. She has five great grandchildren, Kelli McConnell, Atreyu Ciardelli, Kamilla Cooey, Rowan Connell and Everett Cowden.

Preceded in death by her brothers John Jay and Casey Sirmons and sister Kathleen Tabor. She is survived by one sister – Geraldyne S. Bradham from New Ellenton, SC.

Mrs. Parry enjoyed surf fishing, cooking, gardening, sewing and embroidery and had a special bond with her daughter Micki who has been her sole caretaker for many years. Her favorite pets over the years were a dachshund named “Ribbitt”, a dachshund named “Taz” and currently a beloved gray tabby cat named “Baby” who will be cared for by her daughter Micki.

A special thank you to friends and caregivers that assisted in Marlene’s care over the last few years. Due to the COVID19 pandemic no service is currently planned. The family is planning a future service for close friends and family.
