Obituary for Ann Mulkey

Martha “Ann” Mulkey, age 76, of Cartersville, Georgia, sadly passed away at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center on Saturday, January 21, 2023.

Born on July 7, 1946 in Ranger, Georgia, Ann was the daughter of the late Voyd Clay Long and Mauda Mae Long. She is also preceded in death by her two sisters, Ruby Holbert and Dorothy “Dot” Fountain; and her brother, Johnny Long.

Ann is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Tom Mulkey; her daughter, Delisa Ann Mulkey (Adrian Salas); her son, Curtis Lee Mulkey (Melanie); her grandson, Harrison Mulkey; her sister, Odell Hales; and her brothers, Wayne Long (Mildred), Coy Long (Rhonda), Leslie Long, Jack “Jackie” Long (Lee), David Long (Kathy), and Marvin Long (Mary).
Ann worked very hard as a child to not only care for her siblings but to go to and finish school. She learned to cook, clean, and take care of a home at an early age. Because of this, Ann turned out to be an excellent cook and was very hardworking. She took great pride in her home and her family. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and painting gourds as a creative hobby. Ann worked as a ParaPro for the Bartow County School System at Hamilton Crossing Elementary for over 20 years. She was lovingly deemed “the child whisperer,” by her family, as she loved children and was very good with them. She had a great sense of humor and was a master of wit and sarcasm, always making everybody laugh. She had a big personality and high spirit that will be sorely missed.

A graveside service will be held for Ann at Cassville Cemetery in Cartersville, Georgia on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. with Keith Willard officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home for a visitation.
