Obituary for Naymon Ray Cox

Naymon Ray Cox, 94, of Cartersville, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020 at Cartersville Medical Center.

Born on May 16, 1926 he was the son of the late Robert L. Cox and the late Ollie Abernathy. He was also preceded in death by his brother Riley Cox; and his sister Irene Moncrief.

Naymon loved to work with wood. He enjoyed working in the yard, and loved to garden. He also enjoyed collecting coins. Mr. Cox was a veteran, having served in the United States Marines.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty Cox; his son, Billy (Lori) Cox; daughter, Nancy Cox Riel; grandchildren, Tiffany Juarez, Joseph Cox, Jada Meeks, Brandon Welchel, Quinton Welchel, Amber Griffin, Robby Danner, Caleb Cox; thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Carrie Cutting, Bobby Cox; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home, with Reverend Joe Nix officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2020 at the funeral home. Due to Covid-19, social distancing guidelines will be practiced.
