Obituary for Norman E. McMicken

Norman “Eddie” McMicken, formerly of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at home in Cumming, Georgia. Born on January 20, 1948, he is the son of the late Cecil McMicken and Evelyn Allen. He is also preceded in death by his grandparents, Oscar and Stella Allen and Marshall and Allie McMicken.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Susan Darlene Branton McMicken; four daughters, Christy Nally of Cartersville, Kelli Ross (Dustin), Kimberly Athavale (Sanjay) of Cumming, Denise Underwood (Paul) of Calhoun; Seven grandchildren, Kinsey, Emma, and Jaycee Morgan of Cartersville, Abigail and Molli Lochridge of Cartersville, Eva and Lily Athavale of Cumming; sisters, Cathy Terzulli (Vince) of Cartersville, and Susan Rhodes (Don) of Birmingham; brother and sister in law Lee and Kay Atkins, Shay Branton, and a very special brother in law, Bruce Branton.

Eddie graduated from Cartersville High School in 1966 and worked for Lockheed Martin from 1966 to 1968. He then served in the Air Force from 1968 to 1972. He married his wife of 37 years in March of 1984. He was the president of Bartow Bass Club and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Whether he was addressed as Dad or Papa, it was clear to everyone that knew him that the girls in his life were his greatest treasure.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Lee Atkins and Sanjay Athavale officiating. The family will receive friends at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Bruce Branton, Jeremy Kelly, Jason Kelly, Wes Crump, Don Rhodes, Vince Terzulli, Jake Barnett and Glenn Barnett.
