Obituary for Roger Lee Sweat

Roger Lee Sweat, 68, of Cartersville passed away on Wednesday, April 22, at Cartersville Medical Center.

Born on November 21, 1951 in Cartersville he was the son of the late Raymond Lee Sweat and the late Flora Knight Sweat. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Rodney Sweat.

Roger served his country in the United States Marines and was a firefighter with the Cartersville Fire Department until his retirement. He loved to fish and hunt. He also enjoyed carpentry and taking care of his dogs.

Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, Carol Hemphill Sweat; his daughters, Amanda Sweat Shafer (Bo), and Valerie Sweat Sanders (Adam); his grandchildren, Cheyenne Doughten, Ethan Doughten, Hunter Shirley, and Delaney Sanders; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Sunset Memory Gardens with Reverend Ronnie Cowart and Cartersville Fire Department Chief Scott Carter officiating. The public is invited to attend and practice social distancing rules. The family will have a private visitation from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2020 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
