Obituary for Roy George Townsend
Roy George Townsend, 85, of Cartersville passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Cartersville Medical Center.
Born on October 1, 1934 in Cartersville, he was the son of the late Cicero J. Townsend and the late Cora Bell Gossett Townsend. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Townsend, Junior Townsend, Herbert Townsend, J.C. Townsend, and Walter Townsend; his sisters, Mary Oveline Hudson, and Allie B. Adams all of Bartow County.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Townsend; his sons, Donny Townsend (Mary), and Ron Townsend (Bambi); his grandchildren, Jessica Townsend McGill (Dell), Jill Townsend, Zach Townsend, Haley Townsend, and Zoey Townsend; and his great-grandchildren, Blake, Emalie, and Aaliyah McGill.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2020 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Ronnie Cline officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Due to Covid-19 social distancing rules will be practiced.
