Obituary for Ruth Catherine Barnette (Tidwell)
Ruth Catherine Tidwell Barnette, 91, of Cartersville, was welcomed home on November 18, 2022.
Born on March 6, 1931, she is the daughter of John R. Tidwell and Vsnow Godfrey Tidwell. She is preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, Clyde "Doc" Barnette; son, James Samuel Barnette Sr.; brothers, Charles Tidwell and John W. Tidwell; and her sister, Ethel Burgess.
Survivors include her brother, Bobby (Charlotte) Tidwell; daughter, Jeannine "Jay" Barnette; grandchildren, James Boyd Sr., Phillip Barnette, Larry Sparks Jr., James S. Barnette Jr., and Sabrina B. Duvall; great-grandchildren, Farren Barnette, Rylin Duran, James Boyd Jr., Hannah B. Thacker, and many more great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren, Maverick Shutts and Jase Branscum.
Ruth was a spunky, loving, funny, and determined woman. She loved the Lord and was very spiritual. She was a great cook who loved her family and was known , as “The Nanny” but was a mother to many.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with C. E. Wilkey officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the chapel one hour prior to the service.
