Obituary for Sissy Thomas

Mrs. Sherilen (Sissy) Ruth Crawley Thomas, 52, of Cartersville, GA is now in the arms of Jesus. She passed away peacefully on March 16, 2023, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Born February 12, 1971, in Rome, Ga, Sissy was the daughter of Jim Crawley and the late Ruth Warren Crawley. She is survived by her husband, Brian Thomas, daughter, Lauren Thomas, father, Jim (Martha) Crawley, sister, Tina (Rob) McCurley, brother, Jimmy Crawley, father and mother-in-law, Paul and Betty Thomas, sister-in-law Stephanie (Matt) Johnson, nephews, Kamden, Jonah, and Noah Jordan, Austin Crawley, nieces, Taylor Crawley, Mary Shockey, Savannah, and Mattie Johnson. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a special aunt, Kaye Stevens, who was by her side for her last days.

Family was everything to Sissy, she was a caring mother and devoted wife. Her happy place was anywhere outdoors as she loved nature and the beautiful earth in which we walk. She enjoyed hiking, camping, gardening, and the beach. She too had a passion for children, animals, and cooking. Her dogs meant the world to her, and she had never met an animal she didn’t love.

Sissy was tenacious during her four-year battle with colon cancer. She said from day one, she would never give up and she didn’t. She had the most positive outlook on life, and it was nothing but inspiring. Sissy would go to chemo treatments and walk around checking on the other cancer patients praying for them and telling them her testimony. She always put others before herself. Sissy never met a stranger and loved everyone. Sissy’s spirit and memory will live on through the countless lives she had touched.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 18th from 12:00 p.m. -1:30 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home, Cartersville, GA. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Dr. Sterling Brackett and Rev. Barry Garland officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Serving as pallbearers are Henry Lupari, Rob McCurley, Jonah Jordan, Matt Johnson, Marty Moore, and Ricky Beech.
