Obituary for Shirley Marlene Abernathy
Shirley Marlene Abernathy, 83, of Rydal Georgia, passed away on November 1, 2022 at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center.
Born on August 8, 1939 in Higdon Georgia, she is the daughter of the late Luther Norton and Grace Shuler Norton.
Shirley was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law Wade Abernathy and Erica LaPorte, son and daughter-in-law Don and Kathy Abernathy, son Terry Abernathy and daughter Jane Strickland. She is survived by her grandchildren Payton, Trystan, Sophie, Dustin, Melanie, Cody, Lori, PJ, John, and Kevin and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John Darvle Abernathy, her daughter Melissa Watkins, her brother Avery Norton, and sister Sadie Galloway.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 5, 2022 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 pm prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be members of the Abernathy family.
