Obituary for Smitty Hale

Mr. Smitty Lee Hale, 65, of Sharpsburg, died on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center.

Born in Atlanta, on January 26, 1954, he was the son of the late Earnest Lee Hale and Jeanette Bannister Hale. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Hale.

Mr. Hale was retired from heavy equipment operator and diesel mechanic, having worked at Floyd County Public Works for 26 years. He was an avid hunter, stock car driver, and could fix anything. He was very proud of his Native American Heritage. He loved and provided for all his family. He especially loved his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Jan Mathis Hale of Sharpsburg; daughters, Shana Winterboer of Union City, Lindsey Anne Williams (Justin) of Newnan; son, Scott Lee Hale (Kathryn) of Newnan; sister, Susan Hale Jones of Rydal; brothers, Terry Hale of Cartersville, Tony Hale of Kingston; grandchildren, Fox Lee Hale of Newnan, Addison Jean Williams of Newnan; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Kingston Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Corey Hale, Bailey Jones, Cody Jones, Greg Martin, Mark Hess and Logan Jones.
