Obituary for Steven Franklin Striplin

Steven (Steve) Franklin Striplin, age 65, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.

Steve was born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 1, 1957, to W.R. and Edna Striplin.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Edna Striplin; brother, William Earl; stepmother, Jo Ann Striplin; stepbrother, Phil McDonald; grandparents, Earl and Mary Patterson and William F. and Daisy S. Striplin; his uncle, Max Mitchell; uncle and aunt, Gene and Maxine McKay; as well as many beloved cousins.

Steve is survived by his father, W.R. Striplin; brother, Bob Striplin; stepbrother, Greg McDonald (Lisa); stepsister, Joan Moore (Dr. Richard Moore); his aunt, Mary Anna Mitchell; and numerous cousins and extended family members.
Steve was Saved on April 20, 1971 and was Baptized on April 25, 1971. He was a member of Rowland Springs Baptist Church for the remainder of his life. He graduated from Cartersville High School in the class of 1975 and worked from an early age at the family business, Striplin Corner, as well as the family farm. Later he went to work at Union Carbide which later became the Glad Plant under Clorox. He took computer training and went to work at Shaw Industries. Steve also attended Reinhardt College.

Steve was badly injured in a car vs truck accident and sustained massive injuries which later led to his passing. He was never bitter about it and lived his life to the fullest possible extent. Steve was a proud member of the Cartersville Lions Club. He was a DeMolay and achieved Senior DeMolay status at age 18.

Steve was touched by all the love and care shown to him by his church, his friends, and his family. He was thankful for all the blessings God showed him all his life, especially after his accident.

There will be a funeral service to honor Steve’s life at Rowland Springs Baptist Church on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville, Georgia. Officiating will be Rev. Joe Ringwald. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Cagle, Carroll Hamilton, Kenneth Cagle, Lindon Hale, Carter Smith, and Joseph Moore. The Striplin family will host friends for a visitation at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home on Friday, January 20, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
