Obituary for Thomas Robert Evans
Thomas Robert Evans Sr., 87, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born on March 9, 1934, he is the son of the late Buford T Evans and Laura Gossett. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Boston; his son, Tommy Evans; and his sister, Jeanette Barnes.
Survivors include his children, Diane Smith (Dan), Randy Evans (Dee), and Marlae Evans; his grandchildren, Stephen Quick, Colby Evans, Lauren Clayton; His great-grandchildren, Tristen Clayton, Triniti Clayton, Abigail Clayton, and Grayson Evans; and two brothers, Johnny Wayne Evans and Henry Evans.
Thomas was a very generous man though he did not wish for any recognition for being so. He was a long-time member of Friendship Baptist Church, he taught Sunday school for over 50 years, and he sang in the church choir. He was a member of the Classic Historical Vehicle Association where he had served as a past president. In addition, he was a free mason for over 55 years, and was a Gideon for many years. He served in the US Army 101st Airborne. He owned Evans Insurance Center and Evans Real Estate service until his retirement in 2002. Thomas left a lasting impression on his family and all who knew him.
A service will be held in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021 with Reverend Jerry Boston officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the funeral home.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Dan Smith, Colby Evans, Dub Adams, Brayden Pope, Lance Stermer, and Hal Mauldin.
