Obituary for Thomas Jerry Ruff

Thomas Jerry Ruff, 69, of Cartersville Georgia passed away Wednesday June 1, 2022 in his home surrounded by family and loved ones. Jerry was born April 23, 1953 to the late Ralph and Charlotte Ruff.

He was a proud graduate of Cartersville High School, Class of 1971 where he built and carried lifelong friendships. Jerry served in the Georgia Army National Guard from 1972-1978 and then followed in his father’s footsteps as a Georgia State Trooper. He then finished his career of 35 years at Lockheed. Jerry was a lifelong member at Cartersville First Baptist Church where he accepted Christ as his Savior. It was his faith that carried him through his final days. Jerry was an entertainer by nature. He was a gifted musician, craftsman, a well-rounded natural talent, and an absolute joy to all who had the pleasure of meeting and knowing him.

Jerry was proceeded in death by his brothers Donald Ruff and Charles Ruff. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Pamela Ruff, daughter Jacquelyn Ray, son Thomas (Jennifer) Ruff and his adoring grandkids Julia, Joannah, and Porter. He is also survived by his younger brother Kenneth (Kathy) Ruff and many more of his admiring extended family. He was revered husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, brother-in-law, and friend to so many.

The family is honored to have Kyle Ruff, Kevin Ruff, Tanner Stinard, Shaquille Winters, Jacob Bryan, and Grady Sanford serve as pallbearer as well as honorary pallbearers Jimmy Pressley, Tim Clark, Freddy Haley, Ronnie Hammond, Revered Michael Hammond Senior, Bruce Hammond, Adren Wheeler, Ronnie Gay, Curtis Hart, Jerry Cook, Al Chapman, and Bill Chappel.

The family will receive visitors at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home Saturday June 4, 2022 from 5:00-8:00PM. The service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at Cartersville First Baptist at 2:00PM Sunday June 5th.

Contributions can be made in Jerry’s name to Harmony Grove Baptist Church at 695 Dallas Highway Cartersville, Ga.
