Obituary for Thomas Eugene "Gene" Walraven
Thomas Eugene Walraven “Gene”, 82, of Kingston, Georgia, sadly passed away at home on February 20, 2022.
Born on January 18, 1940 in Cartersville, Georgia, Gene was the son of Wallace Eugene Walraven Sr. and Barbara C. Walraven. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley Marie Walraven, as well as his siblings; Mary Elizabeth Walraven, Audrey Jeanette Walraven, and Jo Ann Howard.
Survivors include his son, Edward Eugene Walraven, and his siblings; David Eugene Walraven (Delores), Nancy Louise Cornwall (Jerry), Wallace Eugene Walraven Jr. (Donna), Sue Black Thomas (Ronnie), Michael Eugene Walraven (Debbie), and Shirley Elaine Holt (Rick), as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gene was a loving husband and father. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Adairsville, Georgia. Gene loved his God and country. He served his country for 24 plus years in the US Marine Corps as a Master Gunnery Sgt. He also retired as Chief Ranger of Georgia Forestry Commission of Bartow County, and was also a Mason and a member of the Shriners.
Gene will be sorely missed by his family and friends, but we all have comfort knowing he is rejoicing in the presence of the Lord.
A funeral service will be held Monday, February 28, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with interment to follow at Rome Memorial Park. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 am.
