Obituary for Wiley H. Taylor

Wiley (Doc) Taylor age 78 of Emerson GA passed away peacefully, December 11, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.

Doc was born on February 21, 1942 to the late John "Glenn" Taylor and Margaret Stancil Taylor. He was of the Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by brothers, John (Buddy)Taylor, Charlie Taylor, and a sister, Ms. Carol Taylor

Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Dorothy (Dot) Mansfield Taylor. His daughters Lynn Gayton (Tommy) and Madelyn Brown; grandsons, Josh Gossett (Savannah), Aaron Gossett (Toni), Nick Gossett (Kayla), Kyle Gossett, and Joseph Brown; and a granddaughter, Christy Bishop (Drew); and a host of great grandchildren and two great great- grandchildren.

He was affectionately known to his family as Paw Paw Doc and was dearly loved. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren and watched them grow into fine adults while instilling in them his beliefs and good work ethic, among other things.

His grandchildren loved sharing a good bag of boiled peanuts with him while listening to his stories of growing up in the Acworth area. Despite having a limited education, he had a great knowledge in many things and made good living for his family. He would always find a way to solve any problem presented to him.

He lived his life to the fullest in his younger years and in his retirement, he enjoyed day trips to the north Georgia mountains and long drives with his faithful dog, Lucky, and his wife by his side.

You could always count on a western playing on the television, usually John Wayne, and an offer of a drink or some food if you stopped by to visit. Doc was a man of few words but loved his family and would give generously of what he had.

He was very loved and will be missed more than he could ever know.

Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Gossett, Aaron Gossett, Nick Gossett, Kyle Gossett, Michael Gossett and Tommy Gayton.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2020 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Keith Guyton officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.

At the request of the family, due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing are required by all attendees.
