Alfred Calhoun �A.C. Tick� Head, Jr., 84, of Cartersville died Friday, October 30, 2009 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome. Born September 12, 1925 in Cartersville, he was the son of the late Alfred Calhoun Head, Sr. and the late Ruby Viola Potts Head.
A.C. served his country in the United States Army during World War II receiving both the Purple Heart and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medals. He was an active member of American Legion Carl Boyd Post #42, VFW Post #5408, and the Moose Lodge. A.C. was employed for thirty years at Lockheed Martin Aircraft until the time of his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Ellis Head; his brother, James �Pete� Head of Cartersville; his nephews, Randy Head and Gary Head, both of Cartersville; and his sister, �Nanny� Alline Clevenger of Cartersville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 2, 2009 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Don Hazel officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
