Allen Dwight Belcher, 81, of Marietta Georgia, passed away on November 22, 2021.
Born on February 23, 1940 in Cartersville, Georgia, M/Sgt Allen Belcher was the only son of the late Wallace and Lillie Belcher. He was also predeceased by siblings Barbara Crump and Lynda Walls, son Allen D. Belcher Jr., and daughter Sherry P. Belcher.
M/Sgt Belcher is survived by his sons Adam and Jeff Belcher Casey, grandsons Anthony and Eric Belcher, niece Vickie Boswell and her husband Eddie, nephew Wesley Crump and his wife Nickie, nephew Tim Crump and his wife Wanda, as well as several cousins, great nieces and nephews, and Jannee and her family.
M/Sgt Belcher left high school during 1957 to join the Military. He loved the Marine Corps. M/Sgt Belcher received three (3) Meritorious Mast, three (3) letters of Appreciation, and Certificate of Commendation. He was a drill instructor in Parris Island, SC and while at Hartford Connecticut, M/Sgt Belcher worked as a weapon instructor for the Hartford Police Explorers, Connecticut Army National Guard, Colt, and ATF workers. He guarded the gate at Pearl Harbor while stationed in Hawaii. He was the Marine Corps flag bearer at the funeral service of Martin Luther King Jr. in Atlanta, GA. He retired from the Marine Corps after 23 years of service to his country. M/Sgt Belcher was a warrior for the United States of America.
M/Sgt Belcher was a stellar bowler. Allen was a member of the of the ALL MARINE bowling team. M/Sgt Belcher was one of the first Marines to bowl an 800 series in A, B, C, sanctioned competition. He was also the first Marine to make the bowling team 3 years in a row.
After completion of his Military service, Allen became the purchase agent for Floyd County, GA. He was a member of the National Purchasing Institute Inc. Allen was also a member of Srhofield Lodge No. 443 F & A.M. Hawaii. He was also a retired letter carrier for the United States Postal Service after 15 years.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the Parnick Jennings Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Cartersville, GA. The family will receive friends and family from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 26, 2021 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home.
