Mr. Allen Lester Croy, Jr., age 58, of 390 Webber Road, Plainville, GA, died Tuesday evening, March 25, 2008, in his residence following a long illness.
Mr. Croy was born in Chattooga County, GA, on February 21, 1950, son of Ada Katherine Thompson Croy McGuire and the late Allen Lester Croy, Sr. He had been a resident in the Rome and Plainville area for over 40 years. Mr. Croy was veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army. Prior to his illness he had been associated with Galey and Lord for 15 years and then with Mohawk Industries as a fixer for 6 years. Mr. Croy enjoyed working on his farm (especially his tractor) and watching Judge Judy and Judge Brown. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Croy was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray Lane Croy, Richard Croy, and Otis Croy.
Mr. Croy is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Susan Sharpe Croy of Plainville, to whom he married on May 3, 1984; four sons, Robert Croy of Plainville, Allen L. Croy III, of Atlanta, GA, Aaron Ray Croy of Glenville, GA, and Robert Douglas Sharpe of Abbeville, GA; one daughter and son-in-law, Catherine "Toni" and Blake West of Adairsville, GA; four grandchildren, Holly Redden of Rome, Rachel Sharpe of Rome, Rodney West of Adairsville, and Ashley Croy of Rome; a great-granddaughter, Katelyn Reeves of Rome; seven brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl Croy of Summerville, Herschel and Glenda Croy of Calhoun, GA, Jimmy and Janice Croy of Henagar, AL, Harlon Croy of Summerville, Robert and Diane Croy of Summerville, Tommy McGuire and Billy McGuire both of Summerville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosa and Jake Crider of Valleyhead, AL, Ethel and Ted DeBerry of Summerville, and Barbara Goss also of Summerville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2008, at 2 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Alton Stamey and Rev. Ed Pasley officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends this (Thursday) evening from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home. At other hours the family will receive in the home of Mrs. Eva Sharpe, 1625 Calhoun Ave, Rome, GA.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 P.M. on Friday and include Robert Croy, Jake Crider, Robert Wages, Jimmy Croy, Tommy McGuire, and Herschel Croy. Honorary pallbearers will be the fixers of the Winder Department of Calhoun Mohawk.
The Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
