Almer Lois Hazelwood, 94, of Cartersville, GA, went to her heavenly resting place on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 6, 1929, to the late Henry Hazelwood and the late Mary Edwards Hazelwood. Almer is also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Lou Clark, Ioan Hazelwood, Lola Mae Tidwell, Allie Duvall, and Cleo Hazelwood; and brothers, J.W. Hazelwood, Johnny Hazelwood, David Hazelwood, Floyd Hazelwood, and Webb Bunch.
Almer is survived by her sister-in-law, Rachel Hazelwood; special niece and nephew, Diane Evans (Brian) and Dell Hazelwood; nieces and nephews, Brenda Vollm, James Hazelwood, Emory Hazelwood, Marie Cox, and Rick Hazelwood; special great niece and nephew, Landi McCrory (Will) and Taylor Evans (Holli); and she was also loved by her many great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Almer was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church. She loved everybody she came in contact with, and everybody loved her. Though Almer did not have children of her own, she dedicated her life to help raise over 50 nieces and nephews. She had a passion for cooking, especially her biscuits and pinto beans. She enjoyed singing and was the best back scratcher ever to be born.
There will be a funeral service for Almer at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Parnick Jennings Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Josh Parker officiating. The family of Almer Hazelwood will be having a visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service. Burial will follow Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews Rick Hazelwood, Scooter Hazelwood, Jason Hall, Justin Hall, Joseph Webb, and Zachery Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be James Hazelwood, Emory Hazelwood, Larry Farmer, Nicholas Cox, and Taylor Evans.
