It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alvin Elihu Kennedy Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Alvin was born on Saturday, July 28th, 1945, and departed this world on Tuesday, May 5th, 2026, at the age of 80. He was a cherished resident of Pine Log, GA, where he lived a life full of love and dedication.
Alvin was a devoted husband to his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley Kennedy, and a proud father to his children, Alvin Kennedy III and Alison Odom, along with husband Bryttany Odom. He was a doting grandfather to his dear grandchildren, Jack Odom and Emily Odom, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Don Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Kennedy Sr. and Ollie Jo Kennedy, stepbrother, Bill Kennedy, his beloved uncle Ted McArthur and aunt Erma McArthur, and his beloved mother-in-law Eunice Johnson.
Alvin dedicated 29 years of his life to serving the community as a firefighter with the Bartow County Fire Department, a career he was immensely proud of. Before his career as a firefighter, Alvin served honorably in the United States Air Force, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to serving his country.
Alvin was a man of simple pleasures who loved his family deeply. He cherished his life in Pine Log and found joy in visiting the beach. His warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Arrangements are provided by Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In accordance with Alvin's wishes, all funeral services will be private.
Alvin's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
